Yellow Poinciana

Although the Red Poinciana is more frequently seen in Cape Coral, the Yellow Poinciana is quite a show-stopper. This one was seen on Surfside Blvd on the west side of Cape Coral. These trees will grow up to 40 feet tall and into a canopy shape, thus providing shade. The red and yellow flowering trees are blooming now throughout the city. You will be able to recognize these trees when not in bloom by the long brown seed pods.

McGregor Cafe

As you can probably guess, the McGregor Cafe is located on McGregor, 4305 McGregor Blvd in Fort Myers, to be exact. As you drive north towards downtown Fort Myers along the Royal Palm tree-lined street you will see the blue umbrellas above the outdoor tables before you see the restaurant. The white building with red trim is tucked behind some greenery. Ample parking is located behind the building.

Enjoy eating inside or out at this popular eatery that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their wide menu offers omelets, quiche, salads, pasta, sandwiches, soup, fish, steak, and more! 

Hours are 8:30am-3:00pm and 5:00pm-9:00pm. Dinner Tuesday thru Saturday only. They take reservations at 239-936-1771 or online via Facebook and Open Table.

Consumer Alert – Dryer Vent Cleaning

Keeping your dryer vent clean is important. When lint builds up in a dryer vent the dryer will not perform as it was intended and may cause a fire. It will also take more time to dry a load and cost more money. It is recommended that lint is removed from the trap after each load, although some still escapes and travels through the vent pipe. 

Here in Cape Coral, the majority of the homes have the vent installed from near the floor straight up through the attic and out the roof. This vent pipe could be 10-15 feet long. You will see the upside down J vent cap on rooftops. If moisture or debris gets in the vent it may not clear as intended.

Vents should be cleaned at least once a year. If you are purchasing a home and are unsure when the vent was last cleaned, go ahead and get it cleaned. A local company that you can call is Reliable Dryer Vent 239-687-6622. Consumer Alert – Dryer Vent Cleaning
