Selling Your Home is NOT Fun
There are many different reasons for selling a home but everyone can agree...Selling Your Home is NOT Fun.
- First you will work with someone (a listing agent) who may be a stranger and put your faith in them that they can do the job.
- There may be repairs to do that you've put off for years and just now when you're getting ready to move, you're doing the work.
- Then you have to clean and declutter and almost pretend you don't live there.
- You may need to have a garage sale or move large items (furniture) to a storage facility.
- You must secure or remove important papers and valuables so they are not visible.
- All pets will have to be secured or taken out of the home for showings.
- The yard should be mowed, trimmed and debris picked up. Gardens need to be weeded and mulched.
- You have to be prepared for any number of buyers to tromp through your home who may or may not remove their shoes and may need to use the facilities.
- You have to be prepared to arrive back home after showings to find that the buyer's agent did not lock all doors or turn off all lights.
- Buyers and agents may drive slowly by your home at all hours of the day and some may even walk through your yard without an appointment.
Hopefully, after all of that, you will get an offer or two or three. Now, get ready for the negotiations, the inspections, possibly more repairs, packing, moving, and finally closing.
